Ziro Police Seize 4.174 Kgs of Cannabis, Arrest One in Anti-Drug Operation in Old Ziro:

In a significant crackdown on illegal narcotics, the Ziro Police have seized 4.174 kilograms of Cannabis (Ganja) and arrested one individual involved in drug peddling in Old Ziro. The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police, Ziro, and marks another determined effort by law enforcement to curb the rising drug menace in the region.

According to a statement released by the police, the operation was launched following a tip-off from a reliable source regarding the presence of a drug peddler in the Kudung Burang area of Old Ziro. Acting promptly, a team comprising Inspector Roy, Sub-Inspector J. Doye, Assistant Sub-Inspectors P. Novin, K. Leriak, T. Toma, and Constable A. Ruji, under the overall supervision of the SDPO Ziro, was dispatched to verify the information.

During strategic patrolling and surveillance, the team located the suspected quarter and found one individual, identified as Dunik Lokar, 23, present at the premises. A thorough search of the location led to the recovery of multiple bin bags containing suspected Cannabis. The seized contraband was later weighed and found to be 4.174 kilograms.

Police confirmed that the seizure was conducted in the presence of Executive Magistrate Mide Bage, ensuring that all legal formalities were strictly followed in accordance with the law.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is currently underway to uncover the full extent of the network and possible connections.

“The Ziro Police remain committed to eliminating drug-related activities in the region and will continue to take firm action against those involved in such illegal operations,” the statement added.

This successful operation adds to the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to ensure a safer and drug-free society in Arunachal Pradesh.
