Ziro Police Crack Rs 6.3 Lakh Fraud Case: Three Arrested, Including Woman Who Posed as Small Savings Scheme Agent

Ziro, April 23:
In a significant breakthrough, the Ziro Police have arrested three individuals in connection with a cheating case involving over Rs 6.3 lakh. The case was registered at Ziro Police Station on January 26, 2025.

The accused have been identified as Reena Kumari, Santhosh Kumar, and Dipak Kumar.

According to the complaint, the victim alleged that Reena Kumari had approached him posing as a representative of the Mahila Pradhan Kshetriya Bachat Yojana, a scheme under the Department of Small Savings. She reportedly convinced the victim to open an account under the scheme and, along with her associates, began collecting daily deposits from him. However, the collected funds—amounting to a total of Rs 6,31,800—were never deposited into the victim’s account.

Acting swiftly, the Investigating Officer (IO) of the case arrested Dipak Kumar from Ziro soon after the case was registered. However, Reena Kumari and Santhosh Kumar managed to flee the area and had been evading arrest since then.

Using a combination of technical surveillance and human intelligence, the police tracked the duo to Samastipur, Bihar. A special team comprising SI K. Yigam (IO of the case), CTS W. Lowang, T. Dekar, and Lady Constables N. Asha—under the supervision of the SDPO and SP Ziro—was dispatched to Bihar. With the assistance of the Samastipur Police, both Reena Kumari and Santhosh Kumar were apprehended on April 22, 2025.

The arrested individuals were brought back to Ziro and produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court. They are currently in police custody.

Further investigation is ongoing.
