Ziro, April 25:
In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Ziro Police team, working under the close supervision of Superintendent of Police Keni Bagra, arrested a woman drug peddler and seized a significant quantity of suspected heroin.
Acting on credible information received at around 4:00 PM on April 25, police officials launched a swift operation targeting Smt. Chiging Rillung (50), who was reportedly operating from a rented apartment near the Medical Colony.
A team comprising Sub-Inspectors J. Yomcha and J. Doye, Assistant Sub-Inspector C. Tallo, and Constables T. Param and C. Seema, under the direct supervision of SDPO Ziro, was immediately formed to act on the tip-off.
Upon conducting a thorough search of the premises, the police recovered 13 plastic vials containing suspected heroin, weighing approximately 17.2 grams. It is noted that the accused had been under police surveillance for a considerable period before the operation.
All necessary legal procedures were duly carried out in the presence of an executive magistrate and independent witnesses to ensure transparency.
Following the seizure, a case has been registered at Ziro Police Station vide ZPS C/No.25/2025 under Sections 21(a) and 27(a) of the NDPS Act. The investigation has been endorsed to SI K. Yigam, and further inquiry is currently underway.
The Ziro Police reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug menace from the region and urged citizens to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by providing timely information.
