In a tragic incident on April 22, Corporal Tage Hailyang of the Indian Air Force lost his life in a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. A native of Tajang village in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Subansiri district, Corporal Hailyang was visiting the valley with his wife, who survived the attack.
Baisaran, a remote meadow accessible only by foot or horseback. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers, armed with AK-47 rifles, descended from the mountains and opened fire. Helicopters and ponies were used in rescue efforts due to the area’s inaccessibility.
A day later, today on April 23, the Indian Army intercepted an infiltration attempt near Uri in Baramulla district, along the Line of Control. According to the Chinar Corps, 2–3 terrorists tried to enter Indian territory through the Sarjeevan area at Uri Nala. Two terrorists were killed in a fierce exchange of fire, and a cache of weapons and war-like stores was recovered. Sources say, The Resistance Front, a Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy, claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam massacre. Security has been intensified across the region.
