Election Observer Holds Key Coordination Meeting Ahead of Panchayat Election 2025

Ziro, November 29:
In preparation for the forthcoming General Panchayat Election 2025, Election Observer Shri Pagli Sora on Saturday convened a crucial coordination meeting with all stakeholders at the Golden Jubilee Conference Hall, District Secretariat, Ziro.

The meeting witnessed the presence of Deputy Commissioner–cum–DEO Smti Oli Perme, DPDO Shri Hage Tarung, Superintendent of Police Shri Keni Bagra, all Returning Officers, political party representatives, and contesting candidates.

DC–cum–DEO Smti Oli Perme, in her welcome address, expressed satisfaction over the peaceful political atmosphere in the district, noting that a majority of ZPM seats—10 out of 14 ZPCs—remain uncontested this year. She said this reflects a “healthy and cooperative democratic spirit,” and appealed to all stakeholders to maintain peace and discipline during the poll process.

DPDO Hage Tarung gave a detailed briefing on the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and urged both candidates and party members to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the State Election Commission. He stressed that any violation would invite immediate and appropriate action.

Superintendent of Police Keni Bagra outlined the security arrangements in place for the election period. He reminded all candidates to comply with the mandatory deposition of firearms within the stipulated timeframe, cautioning that failure to do so may result in cancellation of licences. He further extended his best wishes for a peaceful and incident-free election.

Addressing the gathering, Election Observer Pagli Sora emphasised his role as the “eyes and ears” of the State Election Commission. Calling elections the “festival of democracy,” he urged candidates to ensure strict compliance with the MCC, maintain transparency in expenditure, and guide their party workers to uphold calm and fairness throughout the campaign period. He reassured that his contact information is publicly available and encouraged stakeholders to reach out regarding any concerns affecting the conduct of free and fair elections.

The interaction session saw enthusiastic participation from candidates, who raised queries, shared feedback, and offered suggestions, making the meeting both constructive and collaborative.

Reaffirming its commitment, the District Administration assured that all necessary measures are in place to ensure that the Panchayat Election 2025 is conducted in a peaceful, transparent, and inclusive manner. Officials also extended best wishes to all contesting candidates.
