Ziro, April 28, 2025 — Deputy Commissioner of Lower Subansiri District, Shri Vivek H.P, IAS, chaired the 8th District Level NCORD (Narcotics Coordination) Committee Review Meeting at the Secretariat Building in Ziro today. The meeting witnessed the active participation of key district officials, members of community-based organizations (CBOs), and representatives from various NGOs.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Vivek H.P. commended the District Police for their relentless efforts in combating the drug menace within the district. He emphasized the need for continued joint and coordinated actions by all stakeholders to effectively tackle the narcotics threat in the valley.
Providing a detailed overview, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shri Ojing Lego informed that the District Police had registered six (06) cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and arrested ten (10) individuals in connection with drug-related offenses. To further strengthen public awareness, he displayed samples of suspected heroin and cannabis, substances identified as prevalent in the district, to familiarize the committee members and stakeholders with banned narcotics.
The meeting concluded with a collective call for sustained vigilance, proactive interventions, and community engagement to eradicate drug abuse and its associated problems from Lower Subansiri district.
