Ziro, March 23, 2025: The Apatani Students’ Union (ASU), led by President Mr. Pura Nado and General Secretary Mr. Koj Nichi, paid a courtesy visit to Sub-Inspector (SI) Tamo Bakhang at his residence to commend his bravery during a recent high-risk operation. SI Bakhang played a key role in capturing interstate drug kingpin Rohit Basumatory during a gunfight at Hollongi, Itanagar, on March 22, 2025.
ASU members expressed their admiration for SI Bakhang’s courage and selfless service in combating crime. His fearless efforts in the line of duty have been widely recognized as a significant step in curbing the illegal drug trade. The operation, which involved intense gunfire, underscored the risks faced by law enforcement officers in safeguarding public safety.
Hailing from the Apatani community, SI Bakhang has an impressive academic background, holding an engineering degree from the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST).
