ALSDSU Interim President Duyu Khoda Responds to Allegations on Tenure and Elections

In a recent press briefing, Duyu Khoda, the interim president of the All Lower Subansiri District Students’ Union (ALSDSU), responded to allegations raised by Habung Butung concerning his extended tenure and the absence of elections within the union for the past seven years.

Khoda addressed the concerns, defending his leadership by attributing the delay in conducting elections to unavoidable circumstances that were beyond his control. He emphasized that throughout his tenure, his primary focus had been the welfare and best interests of the students, and he expressed regret over the criticisms leveled against him.

Responding to claims that his prolonged presidency lacked legitimacy, Khoda justified his use of the title “president” in official communications. He explained that the title was used for administrative convenience, given the absence of a formally elected leadership body. According to Khoda, this was a practical measure to ensure continuity and stability within the union during a period of challenges.

Khoda further reassured the public of his commitment to transparency and accountability in his role. He reiterated that he was fully prepared to respect the final decision of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) regarding the matter and would abide by their judgment on the future direction of the ALSDSU.

Despite the controversy surrounding his leadership, Khoda’s willingness to cooperate with the AAPSU signals his openness to resolving the issue in a manner that aligns with the broader student community’s interests. The ALSDSU and its leadership will now await the AAPSU’s decision on how to address the allegations and move forward with the union’s leadership structure.

As the situation continues to unfold, the students of Lower Subansiri District are watching closely, eager for a resolution that ensures the fair representation of their interests and a more transparent electoral process in the future.
