Three Drug Peddlers Arrested in Ziro; Heroin Seized in Two Separate Operations

Ziro, April 24:
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Ziro Police arrested three drug peddlers in two separate operations and seized a total of 10.3 grams of suspected heroin.

Acting on reliable information received on April 21 regarding a suspected peddler operating in Kalung Village, Old Ziro, a police team led by SDPO and under the supervision of SP Ziro swung into action. The operation led to the arrest of one individual, identified as Tailyang Tado, from his residence.

Upon conducting a thorough search, the police recovered three plastic vials containing suspected heroin, weighing approximately 4 grams, along with 88 empty plastic vials—suggesting active involvement in drug distribution.

In a second operation conducted on April 23, the Ziro Police team apprehended two more individuals based on credible intelligence indicating that drugs were being sold from a dumper truck in the town.

The team located a suspicious dumper truck parked near the Indian Oil petrol pump at Pai Gate. A search of the vehicle led to the arrest of two suspects, identified as Lingdum Takia and Hari Chetry. The police recovered six plastic vials containing suspected heroin, weighing 6.3 grams, from their possession.

Two separate cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act have been registered, and further investigation is currently underway.
