16th Finance Commission Team Reviews Flagship Schemes in Ziro Valley

Ziro, Apr 9: A ten-member delegation from the 16th Finance Commission of India, led by Annie George Mathew, visited Ziro Valley in Lower Subansiri district to review the implementation of various flagship schemes and assess local developmental challenges.

During the visit, the team engaged in meaningful discussions with Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members and heads of departments, focusing on the progress and hurdles faced in the execution of government programmes.

As part of their itinerary, the Commission visited key sites including the Integrated Aqua Park at Tarin, the sacred Shivalinga at Kardo, and Seeh Lake at Birii. They also interacted with residents at Hong village, visiting a traditional Apatani household belonging to Tilling Duri, to gain insights into grassroots concerns and community needs.

The team also visited Naara Aaba Winery, where they interacted with its founder, Tage Rita, renowned for producing India’s first organic kiwi wine.

To conclude the day, the district administration hosted a vibrant cultural programme showcasing the rich heritage of the Apatani tribe, leaving a lasting impression on the visiting delegation.
