Ziro, May 12: In a decisive move against drug trafficking, Ziro Police arrested a 22-year-old woman for allegedly peddling narcotics and seized a quantity of suspected heroin from her possession.
Based on credible information received at 2:10 PM on May 12, a police team swiftly launched a raid at a rental apartment near Treasury Down in the Ziro-Hapoli area. The accused, identified as Miss Khyoda Otty, was reportedly residing at the location.
The operation was carried out by a team led by Inspector M. Lalyang, SI J. Yomcha, ASI C. Talo, and Lady Head Constable (SG) Nido Yarin, under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police, Ziro.
During the search, the team recovered two plastic vials containing suspected heroin, weighing approximately 2.7 grams. They also seized 14 empty vials and two 1ml insulin syringes believed to be used in drug consumption or packaging.
All items were seized in compliance with proper legal procedures, in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is currently underway.
Ziro Police have reaffirmed their commitment to tackling the drug problem in the region and have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities.
